Top Gear vs GPS = Dead Heat.

So I was sorting through my email’s, making sure everything is in order just before Christmas when a friend of mine sent me a link to this great story.

A couple of guys from the program Top Gear had decided that they would do a fuel test on The Mercedes SL63 AMG — currently the world's most powerful naturally aspirated V8.

Sounds like a fun job to me, well, that's if you're not doing the fuel test in California/Nevada's Death Valley that regularly reaches temperatures of 113 degrees.

What really makes me laugh about the story is that it seems to me that their GPS device had more sense than them.

"We fire up the SL, drop the roof, don recently purchased palm-leaf stetsons and head off into the Valley of Death like a pair of rich, suicidal idiots on a tremendously gay holiday. And, for a while, it's fine. We drive conservatively, and burble gently between vicious, primeval rock faces seemingly vomited from the desert just moments before. Great, fleshy pink walls that melt into watery-looking salt pans via the medium of a heat-haze that stands about six feet high. The temperature gauge on the SL creeps ever higher. After a couple of hours of paranoid satellite navigation that somewhat ominously insists we make a U-turn at the nearest available opportunity, we stop near a place called Badwater to take stock"

To read the full story, and I recommend you do if for whatever reason you are planning a trip through Death Valley, click here.

Celebrity Rehab Ends, Sober House Begins

As Celebrity Rehab ends, Gary Busey's new sober life starts.

Gary Busey, who was a patient on the show but had entered the treatment center believing he was a "sobriety coach" finally accepted that he was there to get help and should practice what he preaches.

The entire group had nice things to say to one another, including the "crazy" Gary Busey. Busey confirmed he will class graduating from Celebrity Rehab as his new sober date, earning the respect from the group.

Also reviled were details of a new show called; Celebrity Rehab Presents: Sober House.

Some of the group are set to enter "Sober House" but Gary Busey is not one of them. Fear not though, the show that begins in January 2009 might feature the odd appearance of Mr. Busey. Gary said he would pop by from time to time to "give lectures."

I hope Gary ends up being like the uninvited guest who constantly pops by and always overstays his welcome. I guess we will have to wait and see.

GPS Can Help Find Jesus

Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin Mother and Child
Holy Infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly... Wait a minute, where the...' is Jesus?

A question that many have asked, millions have searched for and now one west suburban church is doing something about.

This time of year a number of hell bound criminals seek to a new low by snatching sweet baby Jesus from nativity scenes. However, a GPS tracking device can shine like a star and help lead the police to his safe return. That's right, GPS can help find Jesus!

"There's a risk putting these things in public but it's a risk we want to take," said the Rev. George Smith of St. Mark's Episcopal Church when referring about Jesus. "GPS is kind of a fun way of being able to track it."

I know that the GPS tracker device is not like a Tomtom device, but in my head I have the police using one of our Navtones voices directing them to Jesus. "Don't give me no Jibba-jabba, turn left fool, you have reached baby Jesus in 100 yards!"

Awesome!

Mr. T is a Worldwide Superhero

Mohawk Media have just announced the worldwide release of The New Mr. T Graphic Novel.

Mr. T has always been a hero over here at Navtones by providing drivers with turn-by-turn directions on their Satnav devices, but now "T" turns his attention to topics such as kidnap, sex offenders and domestic abuse.

Mr. T's Graphic Novel had an initial limited-edition run of 4,000 copies back in February has now got its worldwide release because of President elect Barack Obama!!!

“Since the announcement of Barack Obama as President-elect, plans have apparently been fast-tracked for a black James Bond, a black Doctor Who, a black Captain America,” the book’s author, Christopher Bunting, told AllHipHop.com. “But what’s missing is a real black hero. Mr. T, star of this new graphic novel, is just the man for the job.”

Mr. T served as executive editor on the project and believes he is perfectly suited for a comic book.

“People can relate to Mr. T. They know what he stands for,” the actor stated. “T [is] for tender, but if you’re a bad guy, it’s T for tough! Get that message out: give people their own black heroes! I pity the fool who don’t get my book, read it, and enjoy it!”

What a guy!

Mr. T's Graphic Novel is available at your local comic book store, or you can visit Mohawk Media store by clicking here.

Mr. T is like Alaska !!!

The rumors of a new A-team film have been flying around for a long time now.

The big question has been, who should play BA Baracus? We all know it should be Mr. T but for some reason the big wigs don't think so. Well, I found this clip of Craig Ferguson saying what we are all thinking. Ferguson is right and he certainly has my backing.

World's Dumbest... Gary Busey

Now I thought I'd seen just about everything Gary Busey has ever done!

The great thing about Busey though is that you can think you've seen it all but Busey will always have something else hidden away somewhere just for you. He's like the gift that keeps on giving!

I've seen the show, The Smoking Gun Presents: World's Dumbest... a number of times and have always enjoyed Gary Busey's contribution to the program. On the show Gary can certainly be far out there and say some weird and wonderful things.

Anyway, like I said, I thought I had seen just about everything Gary has ever done only to find this little gem of Gary Busey behind the scenes at the above talked about show.

Dennis Hopper Gives Speed 3 An Elegy

The movie Elegy is no longer in the theaters and is not due out on DVD till early next year.

However, the film that stars Ben Kingsley and legendary actor/director Dennis Hopper is still very much being talked about. As a matter-of-fact, comingsoon.net just recently caught up with both actors and had the chance to do a belated interview with them.

The Dennis Hopper half of the interview is what I found to be most interesting. Not only does he speak in-depth about working on Elegy but he also manages to put one recent rumor to rest, sort of.

CS: Recently, there was a strange rumor about a possible "Speed 3" and last year, it was mentioned that your character might return... although I thought he died in the first movie. Have you heard anything about this?

Hopper: "Speed? With Keanu? He did (die), he got decapitated. (laughs) I guess he could come back as a talking head I guess. (laughs) They did make a second "Speed" that Keanu wasn't in that Jan de Bont, who directed the first directed, but I don't think it was successful, so I'd be very surprised if they're going to do a third one. No, I hadn't heard that."

Delgo Opens 12/12

In just a couple of days the long awaited, computer animated family film Delgo hits our screens.

Delgo is Fathom Studio's first independent film and they seem to have hit a winner. The colors and animation looks out of this world, while the cast speaks for itself. Burt Reynolds lends his voice to the movie and plays the father to the lead character, Delgo. Delgo opens this Friday, December 12th and is rated PG.

Joining Reynolds on this adventure is; Jennifer Love Hewitt, Anne Bancroft, Chris Kattan, Val Kilmer, Lou Gossett Jr., Kelly Ripa and Sally Kellerman, just to name a few.

My guess is that this is going to be one of the biggest family movies this year. The cast is phenomenal and the movie looks amazing.

If you've not had the chance to check out the trailer to Delgo, here it is again.

Dennis Hopper is one of our favorite A-list celebrities over here at Navtone and we know firsthand what a pro he is at providing quality voiceovers.

I personally can't wait for this game to come out, not only because I just recently got a Wii but because if it has Hopper hopping mad for it, it's gotta be good, right?

The Knight Rider GPS Turbo Boosts More Wish Lists

The Knight Rider GPS has made it onto yet another wish list.

Ryan Seacrest already put the awesome GPS as a "Must Have Item" and gave a number of them away to some lucky listeners on his morning radio show. The Knight Rider GPS didn't just stop there though; it kept its turbo boost on and scanned its way to even more wish lists.

Over on About.com, Buck Wolf has put the device as one of the top items on his; "Weird Gift Wish List."

On his "Buck's Weird News Blog" he writes an amusing blog explaining why The Knight Rider GPS is one of his favorite items. Buck writes:

"I'm not one for getting drunk and eating hamburger off my kitchen floor, but I do harbor a David Hasselhoff fantasy -- and it involves having a souped-up talking Trans Am.

Now, the voice from K.I.T.T. the car from Knight Rider could be telling you where to go..."

One Would Say That Reyonlds Is “Quite Amusing”

A Bunch of Amateurs, a new movie by Andy Cadiff that stars Burt Reynolds is due out in the UK this month (19th) with its US date yet to be decided for 2009.

Last month however the movie was screened for the Royal Film Performance that is attended by the Queen of England and got a very warm welcome.

A Bunch of Amateurs
tells of an ageing star (Burt Reynolds) who travels to the UK under the mistaken impression he is to play King Lear at Stratford-upon-Avon.

To his chagrin, he discovers the production is an amateur affair being staged in a barn in Stratford St John, Suffolk.

Like the Queen said herself, the plot sounds "quite amusing."

Check out the trailer below. I think Burt Reynolds enjoyed doing this film and I for one can't wait to see it.

Cattrall Set To Return To Police Academy

Could it be true? I certainly hope so!!!

Kim Cattrall might be in a new Police Academy movie. The very funny slapstick movies shot the likes of Kim Cattrall and Sharon Stone to international stardom and co-star Steve Guttenberg talks about bringing the comedy cops back.

"We are doing a new movie and it is going to be great fun," he said. "A script is being written and so far it is really great, everyone from the original movies who is still around will return."

"I know Kim and Sharon have been asked but they haven’t said yes yet. It would be really great to have them onboard." He added.

I personally hope this happens. Police Academy was probably one of my favorite movie series when I was younger. The guy who does all the sound effects, the woman with the really soft voice till she gets mad…, how can you not love it??? I hope Kim does say yes to doing a new Police Academy, it would be great to have everyone who was in the old movies at least do a cameo role in the new one.

The new car stereo / navigation combination system has only just come to light because of an award it will win at the 2009 CES show.

While no official specifications on the AVN4430 have been revealed, it is likely to share many with the current ACN2210p unit. One visible upgrade is the larger 4.3-inch widescreen of the removable TomTom personal navigation unit compared to the current one's 3.5-inch screen as well as a slightly revised control layout on the host Eclipse unit's face plate.

The new device is expected to launch at or just after CES show in mid-January, with pricing likely to be a little over $500.

Semi-Naked Kim Cattrall

Here's something to make your Monday blues disappear.

Kim Cattrall posed semi-naked in a recreation of Titian's masterpiece Diana and Actaeon.

The Culture Show on BBC 2 challenged Tom Hunter to do a modern version of the painting as he backs a campaign to raise 50 million GBP to keep the piece of art on public display.

Kim Cattrall is a huge fan of Titian's work and often visits the National Gallery where the painting is currently housed. Cattrall said that viewing this painting is "like being in the presence of genius... it would be a tragedy if it were not on public view".

Hunter, talking about recreating the famous painting said: "Kim is the perfect Diana. Just like the Greek goddess, she combines beauty with a sense of threat. She was a great sport and at 52 made an amazing Diana. She more than held her own among a room full of twenty-something's."

Nice one Kim, I can't wait to see the finished painting and thank you for lifting me out of my Monday blues.

An Apple a Day Keeps "T" Away

I was at the supermarket last night buying some fruit. I was at the apple section and selected what appeared to be the perfect apple. I couldn't believe it when I took the apple and all the other apples followed. About 3o apples kept dropping and falling at my feet. It was a huge mess so I started to shout at the apples. I shouted things like; "Stop", "Bad apple" and so on.

As I ranted and started to deal with this huge inconvenience some fella with a big smile on his face came up to me and said, "Ha, what, you think you're Mr. T or something." Strange I thought, that was until I was informed about a day out Mr. T had with Conan O,Brien!

Busey Vs Conaway

Sounds like tomorrow's episode of Celebrity Rehab is going to be a good one!

The reality show heats up in dramatic style when Gary Busey and Jeff Conaway challenge each other to a fight.

Conaway accuses Gary Busey of manhandling him and suggested Busey should be in a "psych unit" fuming, "You're a maniac, keep your hands off of me."

Busey responded with a simple, "I'll break you tonight." To which Conaway screamed, "Shove it up your ass."

Fight, fight, fight! I know it won't really escalate into a full physical brawl but it does leave me with the question, who would win?

What do you reckon people? Busey or Conaway in a fight to the death?

A-Team Movie Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

Last night Mr. T braced the red carpet for the world premiere of Miley Cyrus and John Travolta's new animated movie Bolt.

Mr. T not disappointing looked and sounded every bit of the Mr. T we have all grown to love. Sporting his trademark American flag pants and bandanna Mr. T was walking around pitying fools left, right and center.

Of cause at some point in the evening he would have to be asked about the rumored A-Team film. Though I have not got the footage of Mr. T speaking about the proposed A-Team movie, when asked about it Mr. T had a few choice words.

"Well, they're talking about an A-Team movie but they're not talking about the main guys.” He said.

"I know, I know. You know it'd be kinda hard to fill my shoes let’s face it - I'm just having fun, humbly I say that!"

With a smile on his face Mr. T then alleged that if movie bosses don't cast him this time around it won't be him they have to deal with.

"I don't want nobody thinking I'm mad because they didn't pick me, it's their choice. My fans will deal with them; they gotta answer to my fans if they don't pick me.”

"I'm just glad that I was the original, I'm honored for that" the legend added.

Like I said, unfortunately I don’t have footage of the above conversation. There is however this great clip of Mr. T speaking about a new animated movie that features his voice. The upcoming movie that’s produced by Sony should be released next year and is titled Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, sounds like a new Mr. T catchphrase to me. Oh, and if you’ve ever wanted to shout catchphrases such as "I pity the fool" to Mr. T, the clip below has Mr. T giving you his blessing.

Enjoy!

Having already won the T3, "Gadget You Can't Live Without" award earlier this year it looks as though Tomtom has hit a winner with their new range of Sat nav product.

What could make these devices even better? The answer is simple, just add Navtones and enjoy real celebrity voices giving you turn-by-turn directions.

Kim Cattrall Set for Another Award

The 2009 People's Choice Awards are right around the corner and all the nominees are in and waiting for your vote.

The awards cover a huge array of categories from Favorite Movie to Favorite Scene-stealing Guest Star. The award that caught my attention though was Favorite Cast.

The nominees for Favorite Cast are:

The Dark Knight
(Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman
Morgan Freeman, Maggie Gyllenhaal)

Mamma Mia!
(Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgard, Colin Firth)

Sex and the City
(Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, Chris Noth)

Get voting people and vote for Sex and The City. Kim Cattrall has been extremely busy this year and deserves all the awards see gets. Just last week she won Ultimate Icon at the Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women of the Year Awards but to win the People's Choice Award would be the perfect end to a hard working 2008.

The People's Choice Awards will honor fan favorites in television, movies and music. Voting has begun and you can place your vote at pcaVOTE.com.

Winners will be revealed during the live broadcast of The 35th Annual People's Choice Awards, which will be hosted by Queen Latifah from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009 at 6:00 pm Pacific time.

The Tomtom GO 630

TomTom's latest personal navigation device, the GO 630 GPS, is available exclusively at electronics retail chain Radio Shack.

The device features complete map coverage of the US and Canada, along with compatibility with TomTom's MapShare software that lets users update or customize their own maps or download ones from other users via TomTom HOME. This access also lets users get traffic updates on their PCs.

The device is priced at $399 and from my understanding worth every penny. To read more about the Tomtom GO 630, click here.
